Agenda

The 2008 Gnash hackathon will be a 3 day event. The idea is to mix discussions with time to work on coding together. Some discussions will be brainstorming sessions about design issues, others will be more educational as developers talk about the areas of Gnash where they have the most expertise. There will be other developers attending these sessions not from the Gnash team, but from other projects that want to work with Gnash.

Agenda

  • RELEASE !!!
  • I/O modeling
    • Threading issues (see ThreadingRemoval) - we failed to discuss this last meeting
  • Three-coloring scheme for garbage collector (see MemoryManagement) - gave its fruits in last meeting
  • How can we best capture mindshare and market share among free software users? Ehm... no ! or, ok.. maybe... flashing
  • Better support for end-user needs, e.g. let's make the top 50 Flash requested Flash sites work! No way
  • Will a core gnash team member join the OLPC support-gang and help with gnash questions & issues? No
  • Project documentation: what needs to be done, how, who... A lot, dunno, nobody looks like... anyone volunteers?
  • Who plans to work on what in the next 6 months ?
  • GUI cleanups
  • Testing framework improvements (network)
  • AMF and RTMP, how it works, and how Gnash needs to change to handle RTMP
  • Our release process
  • Our way to fully re-entrant core lib
  • Who the hell is Open Media Now ?
  • Suggested roadmap for the next year
  • Sound handling

We want the next Gnash release to go out before the Hackathon, preferably before Oct 8th. Since all destablizing work is now done in branches, releasing from trunk should be easier than usual. This will ideally let Ubuntu use this gnash in their next distro.
